The U.S. Department of State created the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) in 2011 to support alumni initiatives that promote shared values and innovative solutions to global challenges. The competition provides small grants from $5,000 up to $25,000 for teams of at least two international alumni of U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs to carry out public service projects, which draw on the skills and knowledge alumni have gained through their exchange experiences. The 2020 competition begins January 16, 2020.
Since its inception in 2011, AEIF has funded nearly 500 alumni-led projects around the world. Last year, 64 alumni teams representing 52 countries out of more than 1,400 project submissions were selected for AEIF funding.
