On April 21, Mattis arrives in Israel to meet with President Reuben Rivlin, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman. Additionally, the secretary will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the World Holocaust Remembrance Center.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, speaking to reporters alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, said he was honored to be in Israel, “our longtime friend and ally in the region.”
While in Israel, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said the United States is steadfastly committed to Israel’s security, and appreciates its partnership with Israel in confronting regional and other threats.
