This is in addition to the Security Message issued on October 13, 2015, the recommended restrictions of which remain in effect.
The U.S. Consulate has declared the Old City to be off limits to all U.S. government employees on Friday, October 16. This restriction will be lifted at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17. We recommend that private U.S. citizens take into consideration these restrictions and the additional guidance contained in the Department’s travel warning for Israel, the West Bank and Gaza when making decisions regarding their travel.
While we make every attempt to provide timely and accurate information, we cannot predict where or when violence or clashes may occur in this dynamic security environment.
We remind you to be aware of your surroundings at all times, monitor the media, avoid demonstrations and other crowds as events can turn violent without warning, and follow directions of police and other emergency responders
