The Embassy of the United States in Israel Announces Seven Summer Study of the United States Institutes for Scholars

What Is It? Study of the United States Institutes for Scholars are intensive six-week post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours whose purpose is to provide foreign university faculty and other scholars the opportunity to deepen their understanding of U.S. society, culture, values, and institutions. The ultimate goal of the Institutes is to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions abroad. 

Summer 2019 Study of the U.S. Institutes will be held on the following themes:

  • American Culture and Values
  • American Politics and Political Thought
  • Contemporary American Literature
  • Journalism and Media
  • Religious Freedom and Pluralism
  • U.S. Foreign Policy
  • Youth, Workforce Development, and Closing the Skills Gap 

For Whom? Mid-career university faculty members, scholars and practitioners interested in advanced studies to deepen understanding of U.S. society, culture, values and institutions. 

When and Where? Institutes for Scholars will take place at various colleges, universities, and institutions throughout the United States over the course of six weeks beginning in or after June 2019.  Each Institute includes a four week academic residency component and up to two weeks of integrated study tour.
