IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Passport printing centers in the United States have resumed printing full validity passports submitted via U.S. Embassies and consulates abroad. All eligible passport renewal applicants must apply for full validity passports by mail. The time from when we receive your application by mail to return delivery is generally four to five weeks. Minors cannot apply for a passport renewal via mail.
Currently, the wait time to receive a passport by mail and the wait time for an emergency appointment is approximately equal.
All emergency passport applicants are offered the first available appointment and we will continue to prioritize services for customers with life-or-death emergencies. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in line with the U.S. and Israeli governments’ public health guidance, the Consular Sections at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem and the U.S. Embassy Branch Office in Tel Aviv are currently providing limited emergency appointments and availability is subject to change as emergency appointments are scheduled. You must have proof of emergency travel on or after your emergency appointment date. This includes both minors and adults.
The health and safety of those who work at and visit our embassy facilities is our highest priority , thank you for your patience and understanding during the COVID-19 pandemic. Emergency passports are printed and given to applicants on the same day as the appointment.
If you are not eligible to apply for a full validity passport by mail, please email us with proof of planned travel in order to request an emergency passport appointment. All flight itineraries must be valid, fully-paid and ticketed and may be verified with your airline prior to approving an emergency appointment. If you do not have travel planned and are not eligible to apply by mail, please apply when routine services resume. We will resume routine services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.
Please include the following in your email, in order to request an emergency appointment:
- Confirmed travel itinerary with confirmation/ticket number
- Details of the emergency
- All names and dates of birth of persons needing an appointment
- All current passport issuance and expiration datesWe may not be able to respond to non-urgent inquiries immediately. Please avoid sending multiple emails as this will cause further delays. Emergency services are available by appointment only in Jerusalem (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 08:00 to 11:00) and Tel Aviv (Tuesday and Thursday, 08:00 to 11:00), excluding holidays.

American Citizen Services (ACS) at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem and the Branch Office in Tel Aviv is open Monday through Friday by appointment only. Please follow the link to the service you are requesting in order to make an appointment. We cannot schedule appointments over the phone. Please note we are closed to the public on U.S. and local holidays. ACS at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is closed on the last Tuesday of every month. ACS at the Branch Office in Tel Aviv is closed on the first Wednesday of every month.
