Notarial Services

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  The Government of Israel and the Palestinian Authority have announced restrictions on movements and social distancing to reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).  As a result of these measures, and due to our reduced staffing, the Consular Sections at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem and the U.S. Embassy Branch Office in Tel Aviv are providing emergency services only.

We are only able to provide notarial services in support of emergency passport issuances at this time. For all other notarial services, we recommend you look for a local notary or an e-notary in the United States, valid in certain states.  As the situation continues to evolve, please check this website for updated information.

The American Citizen Services Unit provides notary services for those persons wishing to execute documents in the presence of a U.S. consular officer.  This service is available to both U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens who need to have documents notarized for use in the United States.

Appointments are required for all notary services. Given Embassy security screening and application processing times, the average appointment takes approximately two hours.

The fee is $50 per signature/seal.  The fee is charged for notarizing all types of documents except for forms required by a U.S. government agency (e.g. DS-3053 or certification of savings bonds).

Only certain documents can be notarized at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate for use in the United States.  Read the following pages for instructions, fees, and appointment scheduling.
