Passport Processing Times and Delivery

The time from application to delivery is currently seven to ten weeks.  We strongly encourage you to apply well in advance of your travel to allow time for delivery of your documents.  Click on the delivery option you prefer to see the instructions.

Note:  Processing times for all services are approximate.  Times quoted should be used only as a guide. We recommend you don’t make non-refundable travel plans until you have your new passports.

All passports are returned by courier (and not by mail or by pick up).  When the passport is ready for delivery, the courier will contact you for payment by SMS and to arrange delivery.  The cost of the courier service from both the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem and the Branch Office in Tel Aviv is 49 NIS for Israel (Israel Post); the cost of the courier service from the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is 50 NIS for the West Bank and Gaza (Aramex).  Courier delivery fees are paid directly to the courier company.  The courier will either deliver your documents directly to you or call you for pickup at one of its distribution centers.

Pickup (ONLY for limited-validity, emergency passports):  For applications that are complete and straightforward, emergency passports are usually available for pickup on the same day they are approved.  Pickup times are between 2:00pm–2:30pm at U.S. Embassy Jerusalem and 2:00-3:00pm at Branch Office Tel Aviv.
