How to Skip Your Visa Interview

How to Skip Your Visa Interview:

If you are renewing your visa, you do not have to come to the embassy for an interview if you meet the following requirements:

  • You are applying for a tourist visa (B1/B2).
  • Your last visa was issued after January 1, 2008 and you were at least 14 years old when it was issued.
  • Your last visa is still valid, or expired within the past 12 months.

If you meet the above requirements, then you can just mail in your passport along with the old visa. On the scheduling website, just be sure to put in the correct information, and the website will automatically give you instructions on how to send in your passport.  Do not come in for an interview.  If you are going through a trusted travel agency, ensure they are requesting the correct service for you.

(As always, children under age 14 and adults over age 79 are also eligible for the interview waiver program)
